StreetLife Project – Compassionate Support for Vulnerable Women

Our Commitment

StreetLife stands with women who have been pushed to the edges of society. We offer care, compassion, and connection — without judgment, without conditions, and always with respect.

StreetLife works with women who are among the most marginalised in our communities — many of whom have experienced deep and lasting trauma and stigmatised.

Who We Support

We meet women whose lives have been shaped by trauma, including:

  • Childhood and adult physical or sexual abuse

  • Mental and physical health challenges

  • Substance use

  • Homelessness and exploited by prostitution

These women are often stigmatised, excluded from mainstream services, and in immediate crisis. Many are surviving on the streets, navigating extreme hardship daily.

Our Approach

We deliver trauma-informed, non-judgmental support that respects every woman’s autonomy and dignity.

  • No conditions: Support is never dependent on women exiting prostitution.

  • Individualised care: We tailor support to each woman’s unique situation and needs and respect autonomy.

  • Empowering voice: Women are encouraged to shape their own support plans and help inform service development.

Practical and Emotional Support

We offer both immediate crisis support and long-term help, including:

  • Safety advice and evening outreach to women on the streets of Cardiff

·       Emotional and practical support through one-to-one sessions

  • Signposting and referrals to:

    • CAVDAS (substance use support)

    • Housing services

    • Police and legal advice

    • Counselling and mental health services

Support at Castle House Women’s Centre

Women can visit our Women’s Centre at Castle House, where we provide:

  • Hot food and drinks

  • Clean clothing

  • Laundry facilities

  • Women’s groups

  • Emotional support in a safe, welcoming environment

Working in Partnership

To provide holistic care, we work closely with:

  • Health services

  • Police

  • Housing providers

  • Statutory and voluntary agencies

This collaborative approach ensures women get the wraparound support they need to build safety, stability, and hope.

Additional Outreach and Group Support

  • Evening outreach for women exploited by prostitution, delivered with the vital help of volunteers

  • Support for women in hostels and parlours, including regular women’s groups
